Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites are quickly becoming ingrained in our culture and society.  Reuters recently released a story about weird stories from 2009 with Facebook and Twitter apart of most events.

Most notable was the groom who tweeted during the wedding ceremony delaying the kiss long enough and send, “Standing at the alter with @TracyPage where just a second ago she became my wife! Gotta go, time to kiss the bride”.

In New York Charmin has 20 restrooms that will have 5 “restroom ambassadors” who will greet and chat with visitors and then send out tweets about their experiences.  For this they will each get $10,000 for 6 weeks worth of work.

The British High Court ordered its first injunction using Twitter to stop an anonymous Twitter user from impersonating someone else.

Social networking sites have become a part of our collective culture influencing the way we live our lives.  Can you keep ignoring the marketing opportunity that these sites will hold as more and more people start to use them?   What will 2010 hold for Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and the others?  Ask me on December 31, 2010.
