Okay so I finally started stumbling with StumbleUpon looking for writing and poetry web sites.  One site I came across that is really cool and could help improve your writing is called OneWord.com.

The premise behind this site is quite simple.  Each day they post one word and give you one minute to write about that one word.  You do not know what the word is until you click the go button and your minute begins.  The object is to get you not to think but to just start writing.  It’s a great exercise that takes you out of your element and throws you into something unknown.  I hate to admit I didn’t do very good today.  I’ve got a lot more exercising to do.

Also there is the One Word Podcast that works the same way.  You call their number at 323-963-4417, they give a one word and you have sixty seconds to say whatever that word inspires.  It’s not as easy as you may think.   Sixty seconds is a long time to spit out inspirations that one word may bring to you.  I was exhausted after my sixty seconds was up.  There is talk of a video version as well though it seems to still be in the planning stages.

OneWord.com is a great site to go to everyday to really exercise your mind, to get your creative juices flowing.  I’m thinking I’ve created a few new energy synapses firing across my cranium.
