My friend Chris was terrified of spiders. He could not stand them. If there was a spider no matter how big he would be running the other direction.
One day while in a pet store he had had enough of the fear. He asked the sales clerk to see the spiders. The clerk proceeded to bring out the biggest, hairiest tarantula Chris had ever seen. He was letting it walk on his hands and up his arm like it was no big deal. Chris was freaking out but he knew his fear had to go. It had to be conquered. So Chris asked if he could hold the spider.
Chris’s hand was shaking to the point he had to hold it with his other hand. The sales person let the spider walk over to Chris’s shaking hand. His heart was racing. His whole arm was shaking. And then Chris realized something. The spider on his hand wasn’t scary. It was actually very cool. It started walking up his arm and it was still cool. His arm had stopped shaking and his heart was beating normal. Chris had conquered his fear.
If you have a fear of something there is only one thing to do; face your fear head on. Look it in the eye and show that fear you will not be controlled by it.
No matter if its a fear of spiders, a fear of heights or a fear of failure you have to face it eye to eye. Chris did and now he doesn’t run from spiders, though he does still kill the occasional spider in the house.
Now go. Face that fear. Conquer it and be free from its grip on your life.
